TED Talks

June 28, 2006 by Chris |

Each year TED hosts some of the world's most fascinating people, among them an interesting mix of mavericks and cultural icons. For the first time ever they are making the experience more widely accessible via TED Talks, a weekly audio release of fascinating talks given by some key figures.

Among the first TED Talk series are Al Gore and David Pogue. Worth a listen.

Drivers of Change

June 06, 2006 by Chris |

Change has always been with us and is essentially the only constant that we know. Thus, change itself is not really of interest; it is the context of change that is vital to understand. And, in order to understand the continually evolving contexts of change, we must focus on what is actually driving change. In order to do this, we need to disaggregate the issues into five families so that they can be reaggregated. In this way, we can bring out what are the CONTEXTS of change around the world.

Our work shows that there is no singular global context; there are no ‘definitive’ drivers which rise above all. We have found that there are distinct areas of similarity, as well as distinct areas of differentiation. People around the world are very curious to understand what others have as their context. How their own situation, and their opinions, compare to others. It has been, and continues to be, such a privilege to be able to work with groups to help them articulate what they believe is driving change in their company/community/city/region. Once the drivers are openly described, then the implications can be discussed and [hopefully] acted upon.
